Loyd Parton

Waynesville - Loyd H. Parton, 75, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Elbert and Mary Ruth Phillips Parton;  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Ann Parton and two brothers, William Robert and Hugh Parton.  Loyd was a United States Army veteran having served in the Vietnam Era as part of the military police.  He retired from H.T. Hackney with 46 years of service and was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church where he served as an usher.  Loyd’s favorite times were spent with his grandchildren.  He loved to stay busy working in the yard and enjoyed trout fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Downs Parton; one son Jeremy Parton; two sisters, Sue Moore and Brenda Frady (Wayne); one brother, James Parton (Judy); two grandchildren, Ellie and Kimsey Parton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Hazelwood Baptist Church with the Reverend Tim Lolley, Reverend John Swanger and Wayne Frady officiating.  Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
