Louise Lane

Waynesville, Louise Whisenhunt Lane, 101, passed away on November 7, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was the daughter of the late James Eric and Frances Gibbs Whisenhunt.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Lane; one son, Sam Lane, III and three brothers.  Louise’s home was the central gathering place for all family events.  She was a magnificent cook and hostess.  She was also well known for red and white geranium flowers.  Louise especially enjoyed the beautiful summer times in Hazelwood.  She would sit on her front porch and enjoy her rockers.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters; Mary Sharp and her husband, David, of Williamsburg, Virginia and Linda Lane Stack, of Waynesville; seven grandchildren and numerous beloved great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Hazelwood Presbyterian Church with Reverend Patrick Womack officiating.  The family will receive friends following the celebration in the church fellowship hall.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional care given to Louise by the Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice and the many caregivers over the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hazelwood Presbyterian Church at 368 Hazelwood Ave., Waynesville, NC 28786.
