Louise Lance

Canton - Louise Shipman Lance, 87, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at The Homestead in Clyde.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Oswald and Rosa Burns Shipman. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Fish and a granddaughter, Jenny Fish Lea. Louise was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and retired from Haywood County Hospital. She loved working in her yard and helping her neighbors. Most of all her family and church family was her pride and joy.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Poley Lance; three daughters, Nancy Fish of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Karen Griffin and her husband, Kevin, of Candler and Joy Wright and her husband, Colin, of Hanford, California; a son, James Lance and his wife, Donez, of Waynesville; a brother, George Griffin; six grandchildren and a step grandson; and three great-grandchildren and a step granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Beulah Baptist Church with the Reverend Barry Clark officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
