Obituary

Lottie Mae Gregory, 89, of Hot Springs, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Mission Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 19, 1936, to loving parents Lester and Annie (Green) Frisbee.

Lottie Mae was baptized in the Baptist Faith and grew up in rural Western North Carolina and attended school at Fines Creek. After school, she began volunteering and working for the Salvation Army, which enabled her to travel around, meeting and helping many people. One of her true passions was flowers, she became a florist on Main Street in Waynesville.

Lottie Mae married the love of her life, Clinton G. Gregory, in 1964. The couple moved to Hickory where their union was blessed with birth of their two children, Blane and Brenda Gregory. Lottie Mae began a job in manufacturing, sadly Clinton passed away unexpectedly in 1973, and Lottie Mae returned to her home place and began farming. She took a huge role by becoming the sole parent to her two children and spent every day making sure they were taken care of. She was truly a provider and Mother who dedicated her life to raising her children and helping others.

Lottie loved to sew, quilt, canning, going to the beach, playing bingo and going hiking with her family and friends. But most of all, she was a devoted woman of faith who read her Bible daily to deepen her relationship with her Lord and Savior. The family finds comfort in knowing she is wrapped in the Lord’s embrace.

Lottie will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege to know her.

Left to mourn her passing is her son, Blane; daughter, Brenda and significant other Donnie; grandchildren: Olivia (Josh) McHone, Casey Balding, Addison Gregory, Elijah Gregory; great-grandchildren: Khaley, Brodie, Correy McHone; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Linda Frisbee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton; her parents Lester and Annie Frisbee; 4 brothers and 1 sister; and many other relatives.

A Funeral Service will be held in honor of Lottie Mae’s life at Keenerville Christian Church, Tony Plemmons Road in Hot Springs, NC, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 3:00 PM. Visitation with the family will begin at 2:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow the service at Poplar Gap Cemetery on Poplar Gap Road in Hot Springs. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Pruitt.

Ms. Gregory’s care has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville, NC.
