Waynesville, Loretta Gail Carswell McClure, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Haywood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Swain County, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Hattie Hallyburton Carswell. She was also preceded in death by her son, Greg McClure and two brothers, Blayne and Wayne Carswell.
Loretta retired from the brake manufacturing division of Continental Teves in 2001. She had many interests such as wood restoration and woodworking along with a fondness for bluegrass, gospel, and dulcimer music. She greatly enjoyed the challenge of word puzzles and crosswords.
Left to treasure her memory are her daughter, Anita Jones, and her fiancé, Keith Walker, of Richmond, Kentucky; her son, Terry Allen McClure, and his wife, Deanna, of Waynesville; her sister, Glenda McFall of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Brent and Dustin Jones, Brian Cooper, Serenity McClure, and Tyler McClure, and his wife, Kara; and one great-grandson, Hunter McClure.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2020 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dewayne Rathbone officiating. Burial will follow at McFall Cemetery in Plott Creek. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The care of Mrs. McClure has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
