Lois Wells

September 6, 1947 — January 19, 2013

Lois Knybel Wells, age 65, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Mission Hospitals – Memorial Campus. She was a native of Beckley, West Virginia and the daughter of the late Felix and Zona Ford Knybel. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Knybel. Lois graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Mathematics and a Masters in Statistics and was employed with Meadowbrook Elementary School as a Title One teacher. She was a member of Canton First Baptist Church where she was a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Vacation Bible School teacher, member of the hand bell choir, Prae group, GA's, World Changers, and she served on many other committees. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Roger Wells; two daughters, Stephanie Lanning and Samantha Wells of Canton; and two granddaughters, Corbett and Constance Lanning. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Canton First Baptist Church with the Reverend James A. Meadows officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton and following the service. Memorials may be made to Canton First Baptist Church, 74 Academy Street, Canton, NC 28716 or to Meadowbrook Elementary School, 85 Morning Star Road, Canton, NC 28716.
