Clyde, Lois Ruth Staley Snow, 96, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Waynesville on Monday, November 11, 2019.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Staley and Pearl Kirkham Staley; her beloved husband, J.R. Snow; two brother, Dale and Mack Staley; a nephew, Bruce Staley; and a very special uncle, Perry Rushton.
She was born in Belleville, Indiana and graduated from high school in Clayton Indiana. Lois retired from Cummins Engine in Columbus, Indiana. After her and J.R. retired, they moved to Florida and managed a senior citizen retirement park for 10 years. They then decided to move to the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina and spend their remaining days. Lois was a member and taught Sunday school at Crabtree Baptist Church. She loved growing flowers, especially dahlias, making quilts, feeding the birds, squirrels and an old blue-eyed possum. Lois enjoyed rides on the parkway, writing poetry and telling stories to make people laugh. She loved to see people smile and making pies for friends and family did just that. Lois won several blue ribbons at the Haywood County Fair for her pies.
Left to cherish her memory are her 4 daughters, Charmaine Tesmer (Dan) of Greencastle, Indiana, Michelle Lamson (Michael) of Vevay, Indiana, Kim Rich (Tim) and Jean Waddle (Chuck Moore), all of Waynesville; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and her cat, Billy Bob.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Crabtree Baptist Church with the Reverend Roy Houston officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where she and J.R. will be buried together. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville.
