Lisa Cayrl
Ballantyne
February 2, 1962 – May 5, 2026
Lisa Cayrl Ballantyne, 64, of Waynesville, NC, passed away at Smoky Mountain Health and Rehabilitation center on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. She was born in Canton, NC, on February 2, 1962, to loving parents, Thomas and Geneva (Murr) Atkins.
Lisa spent her childhood years in Canton before her parents moved to Punta Gorda, Florida due to her father’s health. After Lisa’s father passed away, she and her mother moved back to Canton in the mid-1980s. Lisa started working at Hardees, where she just happened to meet the love of her life, Bruce Ballantyne, who had just moved to Canton to begin a denture fabrication construction business. The couple quickly began a courtship and married in 1989. Their union was blessed with the birth of their son, Erik Thomas Ballantyne.
After the birth of their son, Lisa decided to become a homemaker and focus on her family, who she was incredibly proud of. Lisa loved music and was an active member at First Baptist church in Maggie Valley, NC. She was a woman of deep faith and devotion, not just to her family, but to the Lord as well. Lisa also had a love for hockey, happily cheering on the Carolina Hurricanes! Another of her favorite sports was NASCAR, she loved hearing the engines roar and watching the cars race the tracks. Later in life, Lisa and Burce moved to Waynesville, where they spent the remainder of Lisa’s life until she became a patient at Smoky Mountain Health.
Lisa leaves behind a legacy of love, memories, laughter, and stories for her family to share for years to come. None of which will be soon forgotten.
May God Bless the memory of Lisa Cayrl Ballantyne.
Left to mourn Lisa’s passing is her beloved spouse of 36 years, Bruce Ballantyne; her adored son, Erik Ballantyne; as well as cousins, friends, and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Geneva Atkins.
Lisa’s family will celebrate her life in private; she will be privately inurned at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery in Clyde, NC. To leave messages of condolence for the family, please visit www.wellsfuneralhome.com/obituaries/lisa-ballantyne.
