Linden Reeves Burch

Linden Reeves Burch, 93, of Clyde, died on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Vasar Downey (VD) Burch and Mae Stevenson Burch.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Alice Neal Medford Burch; and his brothers, Boyd Burch, Roy Burch, Carroll (Billy) Burch, and Harold (Bobby) Burch.

Linden was a graduate of Mission Memorial Hospital School of X-Ray Technology in Asheville, NC and worked as a pipefitter and plumber for 42 years at Champion International Paper Company in Canton, NC.  He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Clyde where he sang in the choir and participated in the homebound tape ministry for many years.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Candace “Candy” Burch Wilson and her husband, Dick of Shelby, NC; one sister, Norma Sue Burch Sellars, of Canton, NC; one sister-in-law, Helen Jones Burch of Clyde, NC; and many nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Clyde with the Reverend Rickey Taylor officiating.  Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Carroll Burch, DeLane Burch, Melanie Burch, Michael Burch, Val Dean Burch, Sherry Burch Hambrick, Gail Burch Harrington, Lynne Burch Kirby, Colleen Burch Thomas, and Joseph Sellars. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Milltown Appreciation Fund, administered by First Baptist Church of Canton in honor, support, and appreciation of all those who worked at the paper mill.  Please make checks payable to First Baptist Church of Canton, Milltown Appreciation Fund, 208 Academy Street, Canton, NC  28716.
