Linda Teague

Waynesville, Linda Ledford Teague, 77, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023 at her home.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Steve and Dorothy Hill Ledford.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Don Ledford; brother-in-law, Sherrill Lee Teague, Jr.  Linda was employed by the N.C. Forest Service as a tower operator for eight years; in the dental professor for six years; and retired from the State of North Carolina as a driver’s license examiner after 20 years.  She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church.  Linda enjoyed fishing, camping, horseback riding and enjoyed cooking for families especially for funerals, homecoming and socials with her famous chicken and dumplings.

Linda is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jake Teague; three sisters, Wilma Ferguson (Skipper), Margie Poole (Cliff) and Brenda J. Ferguson, and special friend Mike; brother, Paul Ledford, and special friend, Katherine; mother-in-law, Georgia Estalee Teague; sisters-in-law, Catherine Ledford and Sharon Morris (Jerry); brother-in-law, Charlie Teague (Mary Ann); several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2023 at White Oak Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Putnam, Reverend Billy Ferguson and Reverend Jimmy Moore officiating.  Burial will follow at White Oak Baptist Church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.  Serving as pallbearers will be Jeffrey, Lucas and Doyle Teague, Trey Sherrill, Mutt Messer and Justin Phillips.  Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Teague, Jr. Scott Smith and Stevie Ledford.

The care of Mrs. Teague has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
