Linda Greene

Waynesville, Linda Gail Greene, 71, passed away and went to be with Jesus on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at her home.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Melburn and Edith Teague Miller. She was an executive secretary of the World Methodist Council for 25 years and later was employed at the First Baptist Church of Waynesville. Linda was the pianist and organist at Grandview Baptist Church, of which she was a member. She loved the fellowship of her church family as well as her own family, who she loved spending time with. She found the time to create beautiful wedding cakes and played the organ/piano at many weddings. She was a devoted volunteer and was active in the homeless programs in the county. Linda also loved to travel, visiting 38 countries around the world doing missionary work.

Linda is survived by her husband of 48 years, James Greene; a daughter, Ashley Greene of Greenville, North Carolina; three sisters, Anne Strickland (Gary) and Nancy Rathbone (Mitchell), all of Waynesville; and Melba Powell (Jeff) of Candler; and one brother, Phillip Miller of Maggie Valley.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Grandview Baptist Church with Reverend Barry Willett officiating. Burial will be at WNC State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
