Maggie Valley, Linda Lee Cockman, 70, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on October 22, 2023, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was born in Florida to Arthur Gray and Carole Robinson Gray.

Linda led a fulfilling life and leaves behind cherished memories for her family and friends. After graduating from high school, she joined the United States Air Force and proudly served her country. 

One of Linda's passions was crafting. She was known for her creativity and talent in various crafts. Additionally, she exemplified a thirst for knowledge and continued to pursue further education in welding. 

Linda enjoyed a blissful 50+ years marriage with her loving husband David Cockman, Sr. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with cherished moments and unconditional love. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them.

Linda's legacy of love extended to her children. She is survived by her daughter Valencia Holliday (Michael) and son David Cockman, Jr. (Akiko). Linda's nurturing nature and guidance shaped their lives in immeasurable ways. She is also survived by her sister, Robin Scott and two brothers Edward Gray and Timothy Gray.

Linda experienced the joys of being a grandmother to four adored grandchildren: Alexander, Brandon, Hayato, and Ibuki. She showered them with love and enriched their lives with wisdom and affection.

 

The care of Mrs. Cockman has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
