Lillian Allen

Waynesville, Lillian June Ayers Allen, age 97, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at her residence.

A native of Ohio, she was a daughter of the late William Reece and Lida Ethel Garrett Ayers.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Allen who died in 1999; two sisters, Margaret Ayers and Eva Mae Ayers.  Lillian was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville.  She would always look forward to Wednesday dinners and attending the Asbury Sunday School Class.  As a mother, Lillian loved cheering her boys on at their little league baseball games.  She was an avid reader, quilter and overall beautiful person.

Lillian is survived by two sons, Richard Allen, and his wife, Wanda, of Columbus, Ohio and Gary Allen, and his wife, Linda, of Waynesville; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Health Foundation (Hospice in memo line of check to apply funds to Hospice), 262 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019 at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville.  The family will receive friends following the service.
