Canton-Lester Way Heatherly-78, of Cold Creek Road in the Cruso Community, died Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Byrd and Tulen Massie Heatherly. He was a retired farmer and former employee of Dayco for 17 years and attended Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Holland Heatherly of Canton, two sons, Jack Heatherly and his wife Judy and Phillip Heatherly all of Canton, two sisters, Birdean Fullbright of Brevard and Betty Clark of Canton, one grandson and his wife, Jeff and Kristy Heatherly and one great-granddaughter, Jennifer Heatherly.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2002 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Jake Cagle and Reverend Junior Briggs officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of the son, Jack Heatherly, 879 Cold Creek Road, Canton, NC 28716.
