Lester Gunter

Waynesville, Lester Talmadge Gunter, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at MedWest Haywood. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Guy and Ola Mull Gunter. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Gunter; one brother, Carl Gunter; and a sister, Thelma Frady. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of Camp Branch Missionary Baptist Church. Lester was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who enjoyed camping in his spare time. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Creasman Gunter; one daughter, Sherry Morgan of Laceys Spring, Alabama; three sons, Gary Gunter and his wife, Karen, and Kevin and Keith Gunter, all of Waynesville; three sisters, Louise Godsey, Janice Patterson and her husband, Bill, and Betty Beardsley, all of Raineer, Oregon; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ricky Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
