Leona Haynes

Waynesville, Leona Reece Haynes, age 91, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Upstate Community Hospice House.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late R. Theodore and Maggie Smith Reece.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin E. Haynes who died in 1991; two sisters, Geneva and Clarissa; a brother, Bud Reece; and a granddaughter, Amanda Jarrott.  Leona was a member of Barberville Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting, painting and working in her flower garden.

Leona is survived by three sons, Alvin Haynes, Terry Haynes (Barbara) and Carl Haynes (Cheyenne); 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:15 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.

The care of Mrs. Haynes has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
