LEONA RATHBONE EVANS

Waynesville-Leona Rathbone Evans, age 76, of 49 Shadyside Dr., died Thursday, September 26, 2002, at Autumn Care of Waynesville.

She was a native of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late, Rufus and Mila Messer Rathbone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Albert Evans, in 1995. She was a member of Dellwood Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Earl and Janet Burnette Evans of Waynesville; three daughters, Wanda and Phil Harris, Marlene McCall and Ronnie Presnell all of Waynesville, and Ruth Ann and Jimmy Smith of Johnston, SC; four sisters, Lillie Rathbone, Vennie Rhodarmer, Frankie Phillips, and Maggie Cagle all of Waynesville; twelve grandchildren, Brian and Steve Arrington, Darren, Patrick, and Misty Buchanan, Shannon and Matthew Evans, Michael, Michelle, and Marla McCall, and Lisa and Sheila Presnell; four great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2002 at Dellwood Baptist Church with the Reverends Jason Ledford, Johnny Swanger, and Claude Conard officiating. Burial will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Evans grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. At other times the family will receive friends at the Evans' residence, 49 Shadyside Dr., Waynesville.
