Lena Chastain

Lena Burnette Chastain, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home in Canton. She passed peacefully after an enduring struggle with respiratory problems. She was born on March 3, 1931 in the Bethel Community of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Carl and Pearl Singleton Burnette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Chastain; a grandson, Bryce Gragg along with several brothers and a sister. She is survived by a daughter, Alice Gragg and her husband, Larry, of Canton; a son, Johnny Chastain and his wife, Joyce, of Waynesville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren along with a brother, J. C. Burnette of Canton; and two sisters Letha Pinkerton of Candler and Emma Davis of Canton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Johnny Chastain, Reverend Michael Chastain, and Reverend Dale Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
