Candler – Laura Crunkleton DeBord, 97, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021 at her residence.
Laura was a native of Rabun County, Georgia and a daughter of the late Thomas David and Maude McClain Crunkleton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Joseph DeBord, who died in 2010; two grandsons, Adam and Stan Jolly; four brothers; and three sisters. Laura was an accomplished self-employed seamstress and a devoted member of Hominy Baptist Church. She was a good Christian woman and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
She is survived by three daughters, Viki Moore of Maryville, Tennessee, Kathy Jolly (Thomas), of Blairsville, Georgia, and Joleen Dotson of Candler; one sister, Lois Scroggs of Candler; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, July 30, 2021 at Hominy Baptist Church with the Reverend Joe Yelton and Reverend Dan McCury officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Four Seasons Hospice and Hominy Baptist Church for their care, love, and compassion to Laura and our family.
