Lake Junaluska, Kurt Douglas Beech, 54, suddenly passed away at his home on Friday, November 23, 2018. Kurt was a kind man with a big heart.
A native of Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Albert and Joan Baker Beech. Kurt graduated from the Art Institute of Colorado in Denver. He was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church. Kurt loved fishing and was a member of several bass fishing clubs in Virginia and North Carolina. He enjoyed watching fishing shows on TV. Kurt played hockey as a child and was a life-long fan and coached several college club teams in Hampton Roads, Virginia. He was an avid fan of the New York Islanders and the Washington Capitals. He loved his two dogs and enjoyed having them close by him always. Kurt made friends wherever he lived and worked. He enjoyed pleasing his customers wherever he worked.
Kurt is survived by his wife of 10 years, Georgie Dunn; daughter, Mikinze Mozal, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; son, Ryan Mozal, of Cullowhee; his two dogs, Teddy and Lily; brother, Dean Beech, and his wife, Susan, of Lakewood, Colorado; several nieces and nephews; extended family and friends in Rhode Island, Michigan, Colorado, Virginia, North Carolina, Massachusetts and Nebraska.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Maple Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend David L. Childers officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kurt’s name may be made to Take a Kid Fishing Foundation, P.O. Box 1191, Morehead City, NC 28557, www.takf.org.
