Kay Ferguson

Waynesville-Kay Boyd Ferguson, age 63, of 74 Windswept Way, died on Saturday, July 30, 2005 at her residence. She was a native of Haywood County and the daughter of the late David Andrew and Eddie Walker Boyd. Her brother, Edward Boyd, and a nephew, whom she helped raise, Chris Ferguson, also preceded her in death. She was a 1959 graduate of Waynesville Township High School and graduate of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology. She was a former high school teacher and was also employed at the North Carolina Welcome Center on Interstate 40. She was a volunteer 4-H Leader and enjoyed working with youth. She was also an excellent seamstress and was accomplished with a great ability to identify native wildflowers. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Her two sons and her grandchildren were the loves of her life. She is survived by her two sons; Neil Ferguson and his wife Nancy, of Clyde, Marion Ferguson and his wife, Carol, of Waynesville; two nephews, which she raised, Mark Ferguson, of Clyde and Steve Ferguson and his wife, Lori, of Statesville, NC; three grandchildren, Spencer Lane Ferguson, Harlie Stuart Ferguson, and Hannah Rae Ferguson; one brother, Andy Boyd and his wife, Carole, and their children Allison Ingram and her husband, Ted, and David Boyd, all of Archdale, NC; and two special friends, Amy Cogdill Spivey, of Clyde and Jenny Lou Carver, of Maggie Valley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Nelson and Reverend Nick Nicholson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2005 at the funeral home.
