Kathy Young

Kathy Wilson Young, age 56, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Guilford County, she was a daughter of Maxine Lemons Spivey of Stokesdale and the late Clay Wilson, Jr. She retired, with 30 years of service, from the Buncombe County School System, where she taught as an elementary school teacher. Kathy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was active in the AWANA Program and choir at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Kathy also enjoyed spending time at Lake Hiawassee. She is survived by her husband, of 21 years, James "Jim" Young; one son, James Clay Young; one daughter, Amanda Marlowe and her husband, Steven; one sister, Ann Brown and her husband, Wally; three granddaughters, Chelsey, Haley and Malea Marlowe; and one grandson, Peyton Brett Marlowe, all of Leicester. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Bobby Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Amanda and Steve Marlowe.
