Karen Anne
Colozoff
August 11, 1936 – May 30, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen Anne Colozoff, a beloved mother, grandmother "Hiyo", and friend who left this world on May 30th, 2026 at the age of 89 at her home in Waynesville, with her loving family by her side.
Karen was the heart of her family and a source of love, strength, and kindness to everyone who knew her. Her home was a place everyone felt welcome, and her love knew no bounds.
As a mother, she provided guidance, encouragement, and most importantly unconditional love. As a grandmother, she created cherished memories filled with laughter, warmth and love. As a friend, she was loyal, compassionate, and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Karen was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She attended the University of Miami, where she enjoyed her role as head cheerleader for her squad. Following graduation Karen was a teacher in Miami until 1979 when she moved to Maggie Valley, NC where she continued teaching at Central Elementary School and Waynesville Middle School. Those who knew her will remember how her beautiful blue eyes and her warm smile lit up any room she was in.
She found joy in the simple things - dancing, biking, hiking, traveling, and nature. She was very creative and had an eye for fashion. Karen was also a devoted Christian and loved the Lord with all of her heart.
Karen was predeceased by her late husband, Albert Colozoff; her daughter, Alyson Littell; and her brother, Roger Wagner.
She is survived by her daughter, Melisa Davis (Steve); son-in-law, Rick Littell; grandson, Cole Littell (Emily); granddaughter, Leah Davis Jones (Derek); and great-grandsons, Jacob and Josias Jones.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
"Though she is no longer with us, her love remains woven into our hearts. 'Love never fails' - 1 Corinthians 13:8. Karen's legacy of kindness, faith, and devotion continue to inspire all who knew and loved her."
The care of Mrs. Colozoff has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
