Asheville – Junius E. “J. E.” Williams, Jr., 94, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
A native and lifelong resident of Asheville, he was the son of the late Junius Erastus Williams, Sr. and Lizzie Mason Williams. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Dorothie Chapman Williams who passed away in 2017; four brothers; and two sisters. J. E. was a United States Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation as a civil engineer.
He is survived by a daughter, Dana W. Shelton and her husband, Larry, of Clyde; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside military honors conducted by the National Guard will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Buncombe County, 146 Victoria Road, Asheville, NC 28801.
