June Swanger

Waynesville, June Suttles Swanger, age 88, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Autumn Care of Waynesville.

June was born in Joe, NC in Madison County on January 8, 1935.  She was the daughter of the late John Riley Suttles and late Ollie Victoria Reese Suttles.

June was the widow of the late Samuel Truman “S.T.” Swanger who died September 2004.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lora Suttles Smith Duckett, Evelyn Suttles Lowe and brothers, Arlis Everette Suttles, Thurman Clayton Suttles, Roy Ellis Suttles, and John David Suttles.  She graduated from Fines Creek High School in 1954.  June worked for several years as a Dietary Aide with Haywood Regional Medical Center.

She is survived by one son, Keith Swanger of Waynesville, two daughters, Janice Swanger Moffitt (Neal) of Gastonia, NC and Donna June Swanger of Waynesville; three grandchildren, Amy Rose Swanger of Waynesville, Christina Brooke Hawkins of Clyde, and Lauren Piasecki Avery of Gastonia, NC; four great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held at a later date.

In appreciation of the excellent care given to June at Autumn Care, the family graciously request that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Autumn Care Patient Activity Fund, 360 Old Balsam Road, Waynesville, NC  28786.
