Juanita Trantham

Juanita Laws Trantham, 88, of the Fines Creek Community, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Mission Hospital.

A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Arlan and Alma Murphy Laws.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Trantham who died in 2007; two sisters, Betty Silvers and Madge Ingle.  Juanita was employed by Pigeon Valley Florist in Canton and later American Enka.  She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.  Juanita enjoyed quilting, crafts, gardening and being a loving mother and grandmother.

Juanita is survived by a daughter, Linda Burgess, (Mickey), of Clyde; son, Roy Lee Trantham, (Betty White), of Clyde; three sisters, Addie Mae Ingle (Richard), of Connelly Springs, NC, Marcella Robertson (Ben) of Valdese, NC; brother, Sam Laws (June), of Asheville; four grandchildren, Mekayla Calhoun (Mason), Tracy Trantham (Lucas), Cassie Cagle and Jonathan Cagle (April); and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend John H. Swanger, III, officiating.  Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
