Joyce Holcombe

Waynesville – Joyce Fay Lanning Holcombe, age 72, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Smoky Mountain Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late William Jules and Adlee Swanger Lanning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Branch and Grace Robinson; four brothers, Troy, Clinton, Clifford, and Ray Lanning; and a granddaughter, Tonya Fay Holcombe. She was formerly employed by Canton Health Care as a certified nursing assistant. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with all of her family. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles Holcombe; four daughters, Donna Campbell of Asheville, Linda Christian of Morganton, Tammy Ballew and Marsha Moore, both of Waynesville; one son, Alan Holcombe and his wife, Susie, of Morganton; one step-son, Joseph Holcombe of Virginia; one sister, Wilma Greene, of Canton; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Morning Star Community Cemetery with the Reverend Maurice Sheehan officiating.
