Joseph “Joe” Komski, age 88, of Maggie Valley, NC, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023.
Born January 8, 1935, a native of Wayne County, MI, he formerly resided in Boynton Beach, FL before moving to Haywood County in 2002. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lottie Komski, his wife of 47 years, Carole Komski, his eldest son, Michael Komski and his sister, Patricia Komski.
Joe was the owner of Komski Tool & Die Manufacturing Company for 36 years before retiring in 1991. During his retirement, he cherished spending time with his family, working on classic cars and was a fan of Nascar, Football and Hockey. In his free time, Joe, also known as Papa Joe, enjoyed being in the company of his good friends drinking Budweiser at the Tavern in Maggie Valley.
He is survived by one son James Komski (Pam); three daughters, Elizabeth Komarisky (Brian), Holly Breakfield (Marcus), and Jennifer Kajcienski (Scott), all of Michigan; nine grandchildren, Autumn (Dakota), Arin (Santi), Joseph, Courtney (Jarad), Sara (Brandon), Aaron, Evan, Amber (Joshua) and Owen; and five great grandchildren, Leanna, Dakota, Juliana, Jaxon and Landon.
Joe’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of his friends in Maggie Valley for their unconditional friendship shown to Papa Joe throughout the years.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
