Johnny Moore

August 4, 1946 — June 5, 2007

Waynesville-Johnny Harold Moore "Pop", age 60, passed away due to heart failure on Tuesday, June 5, 2007. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Homer Winston and Cora Mayfield Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah and Debrada and an infant brother, Homer. He was a US Army veteran and a former employee of the Dayco Corporation. Johnny co-owned Moore & Moore Tire Company with his son, Jody Moore. He attended Woodland Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Denise Moore; two sons, Rusty Rogers, of Canton and Jody Moore of Clyde; four sisters, Lavona Rhinehart, Edna Glavich, and Shirley Sentelle, all of Canton and Carolyn Pressley of Cullowhee; four brothers, Winston Moore of Asheville, Sewell Moore of Waynesville, Paul Moore of Canton, and Brenes Moore of Waynesville; and three grandsons, John Harkrider and Tyler and Brannon Moore. Informal services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2007 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Richard Keep officiating. Burial will follow at Balsam Grove Cemetery in the Caney Fork Community of Cullowhee. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
