Johnny Ray Ledford

Johnny Ray Ledford, 74, of Waynesville passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Haywood Regional Hospital.  A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Bynum and Geneva Ledford.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his infant twin brother, Jerry Ralph Ledford; brother, Earl Ledford and two sisters, Eileen Coward and Edna Blanche Plemmons.

Ray loved cultivating a garden.  His favorite pastime was listening to music and reading God’s word, his faith sustained him as he faced his mortality with God’s grace. He attended Hazel Green Baptist Church in Asheville.  For many years, he was employed as a cook at Clyde’s Restaurant.

He is survived by one brother, Troy Lee Ledford (Coleen) of Franklin and sisters, Helen Ledford and Joyce Reece both of Waynesville.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Self and Pastor Mark Elkins officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.at the church prior to the service.
