John Williams, Jr.

January 11, 1946 — November 17, 2008

John Williams, Jr. "Junior.", age 62, of Benton Drive died Monday, November 17, 2008, at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Johnny and Louella Singleton Williams. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Frances Williams. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church. John enjoyed helping his children build motors and watching them race in Cherokee. He also loved talking on his CB radio with Betty. John was a caring man and will be missed by all who knew him. He was known to all as Paw. In addition to his beloved wife of 45 years, Betty Brown Williams, he is survived by three sons, Terry Williams of Canton, Randy Williams and his girlfriend, Tabi Queen, of Clyde, and Dewayne Worley and his wife, Stacy, of Canton; three daughters, Marquetta Rathbone and her husband, Eugene, of Canton, Tammy Worley and her husband, David, of Clyde, and Melissa Worley and her husband, Martin, of Canton; four sisters, Edna Surrett of Canton, Wilma Shuler and her husband, Sammy, of Canton, Wanda Wilde and her husband, Bill, of Asheville, and Mary Crane and her husband, Johnny, of Burnsville; two brothers, Leroy Williams and his wife, Annette and D L Williams and his wife, Ida, all of Canton; 12 grandchildren, Matt Rathbone, Dewayne, Kyle, Karie, Brooke, and Andrew Worley, Levi, Tyler, Cameron, and Amber Williams, Timber and Taya Estes; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Rayne, and Alicia Worley. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Martin Worley and Reverend Calvin Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Clark Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Danny Williams, David Worley, Steve Williams, Jeremy Calclasure, Shane Griffin, Adam Hatton, Billy Singleton, James Barker, Sammy Joe Shuler, and Bobby Dean Gibson. At other times, the family will be at the home of Junior and Betty Williams.
