John Moore, Jr.

Canton – John Franklin Moore, Jr., 88, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Black Mountain Neuro Medical Center.

A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late John Franklin Moore, Sr. and Ethel Rhinehart Moore.  John is also preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Burnette Moore, who died on February 25, 2017.  John graduated from Clemson University with a Master’s Degree in Engineering.  He retired from Gerber Baby Foods as Eastern Region Sales Director, and he was Broker-in-Charge at Coldwell Banker in Waynesville.  John was in the United States Marine Corp having served on the “USS Midway” in an Amphibious Reconnaissance Company and where he was awarded a National Defense Medal, China Service Medal, Navy Occupational Medal (Europe) as well as a Good Conduct Medal.

John is survived by two daughters, Zondra Moore (Joseph Keeler) of Arden and Sherri Moore (Joseph Petrocelli) of Clifton, New Jersey; one son, Rodney Moore (Brandy) of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother, James “Ray” Moore of Hendersonville; three grandchildren, Christian Williams (Jessica Covino), Brianna and Addison Moore; and great-grandson, Kyrin Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Brian Henderson officiating.  Burial will follow at Morning Star Community Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
