Clyde - John Stuart Kinsland, 91, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late John Hascue and Lois Evans Kinsland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jincie Patton Kinsland, who died in 2002; one brother, Carroll Kinsland; and one sister, Patsy Pruett. John displayed a devoted work ethic, both for his family farm and Champion International Paper. He was a United States Navy veteran having served in World War II.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Jean Carpenter (Dale) of Spruce Pine and Lois Davis of Asheboro; two grandchildren, Jeff Carpenter (Meredith) of Waynesville and Jonathan Davis (Elizabeth) of Greensboro; two great-grandchildren; one great-grandson on the way; a sister-in-law, Maxine Mann Kinsland of Canton; and close family friend, Maria Rojas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend David Reeves officiating. Private family burial will follow at Patton Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
