John Dwyer, Iii

Maggie Valley, John Joseph Dwyer, III, 93, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022 at his residence.

A native of Brooklyn, New York, he was a son of the late John Joseph Dwyer and Kathryn Agnes Cooney Dwyer.  John proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army.  He worked in the garment industry until retiring in 1995.  John was a member of St. Margaret’s of Scotland Catholic Church.  He enjoyed playing golf, gardening and loved traveling and his favorite food was ice cream.

John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Anelli Dwyer; daughter, Jacqueline Knafelc, and her husband, Michael, of South Carolina; two sons, Brian Dwyer, and his wife, Mari Beth, of Virginia and Kevin Dwyer, of New York; a sister, Patricia Fishel; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

The care of Mr. Dwyer has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
