Maggie Valley

John Berrevoets, age 85, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Delanco, New Jersey, he was a son of the late John Cornelis and Barendje Aaltja Van Ham Berrevoets.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings and in-laws, Alida Adams (Joseph), Gertie Pearson (Walt), Dina Adams (Joseph), Grace Aretz (Duane), Cornelius Berrevoets (Mona), Violet Schork, Lily Berrevoets, and Larry Raber.  John proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves and was employed by PSE&G for 40 years retiring in 1996 and relocating to Haywood County.  He is a member of Maggie Valley United Methodist Church.  John was a wonderful husband, amazing father, grandfather, father-in-law, and uncle.  He was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagle’s fan and was so excited that they finally won a super bowl during his lifetime.  John enjoyed being in his garage wrenching vehicles, working on antique cars, and tinkering on various projects.  He enjoyed camping, traveling all 50 states, and most importantly he loved being involved with his church.  He lived life to the fullest, enjoyed family and friends, laughing, smiling and has been often quoted saying that he has lived a great life.

John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane Berrevoets; daughter, Dina Towey, and her husband, Tom, of Maggie Valley; son, John Peter Berrevoets, of Berlin, New Jersey; two sisters, Johanna "Honey" Stroher, of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Lena Leeds, of Millville, New Jersey; in-laws, George Schork, of Blythewood, South Carolina; Rober Raber, and his wife, Claudia, of Winston-Salem, Linda Milsop, and her husband, Bill, of Belin, New Jersey; and Sandie Raber, of New Jersey; two grandchildren, Jonathan, and Michael Berrevoets, of Berlin, New Jersey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Maggie Valley United Methodist Church.

The care of Mr. Berrevoets has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
