Joe Boyd

Waynesville, Joe Everett Boyd, age 86, took his eternal flight early morning on Sunday, June 26, 2022.

A native of Haywood County, Joe was the only child of the late Troy Charles Boyd and Maye Davis Boyd.

Joe was born August 19, 1935.  After graduated high school at Waynesville Township High School, he joined the US Navy in 1957, serving two years.  He then continued his education at NC State University and Western Carolina University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.  Joe was a member of Encouraging Word Baptist Church.  He married, lived and worked in Waynesville where he retired from Dayco Southern after 40 years of service.  After retiring Joe enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, and flying model airplanes.

Joe is survived by his son, Ross Boyd; granddaughter, Brooke Boyd; and grandson, Blake Boyd.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Horton officiating.  Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
