Joada Michael

Waynesville, Joada Ann Michael, 88, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019 at Smoky Mountain Health and Rehabilitation Center.

A native of Ohio, Joada was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary King Oswalt.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Michael, who died in 1985.  She was called "Jolly" from the start due to her cheerful, nurturing and engaging personality.  Her first word was "dog" and so her life was filled with many loving pets.  Her other passions included: family, friends, homemaking, entertaining, gardening, knitting, quilting, reading literature, theatre, and teaching high school English for 23 years.  Jolly volunteered and donated throughout her life to benefit others, such as her children’s PTO, swim teams and scouts; and her community’s Woman’s Club, arts and sciences museums, quilting guilds, pet rescues, master gardening, and the Episcopal Church.  She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her caring heart and her enthusiastic energy for all of her life’s endeavors.

She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Wetmore, and her husband, Ron and JoEllen Leisinger, and her husband, Cliff; two sons, Scott Campbell, and his wife, Janice and Jeff Campbell, and his wife, Donna; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Her family will be holding a private memorial service.
