It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jo Ann Jones, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, who departed this life on April 9, 2025, at her home in Haywood County, North Carolina. Born on February 5, 1942, in Haywood County, she was the daughter of Wiley Thomason and Rachel Stamey Thomason.
Jo Ann was the epitome of a Southern Baptist lady, renowned for her unwavering faith and her wonderful personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She was a devoted caretaker, loving her family with every fiber of her being, embodying strength, compassion, and grace throughout her life.
Jo Ann is survived by her adored children, Cindy Hatherlee (Robert), Tim Jones (Debbie), and Randy Jones. She also treasured her role as a grandmother to fourteen grandchildren and embraced the joy of being a great-grandmother to twenty great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. Adding to her legacy, Jo Ann is further survived by two great-great-grandchildren and her beloved brother, Jerry Thomason (Cathey).
Jo Ann is reunited in Heaven with her loving husband Paul W. Jones, her parents Wiley and Rachel Thomason, her son William "Terry" Jones, her brothers Richard, Lewis, Roger, and James Thomason, and a daughter-in-law Colleen Jones.
Her family will gather to honor her life and memory with visitation at Wells Funeral Home - Canton on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM with officiating by Rev. Chris Jennings and Pastor Joey Webb, Jr. Jo Ann will then be laid to rest at Sunny Point Baptist Church Cemetery.
Jo Ann Jones leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love, faith, and family that will be cherished by all who knew her. Her spirit will undoubtedly resonate in the hearts of her loved ones for years to come.
The care of Mrs. Jones is entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton, NC.
