Waynesville, Jimmy Lee Campbell, 71, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at his residence. 

 

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, Jimmy was the son of the late Albert and Helen Miller Campbell.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anita Harkins Campbell, who died in 2008; and a sister, Linda King.  Jimmy was employed by the Town of Canton for 32 years and retired as Fire Chief. 

 

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 12 years, Jane Worley Campbell, of Waynesville; two daughters, Jamey Ledford (Dale), of Lawndale, NC, and Shannon Jones (Jamie), of Canton; one step-daughter, Lisa Moore (Troy), of Leicester; two step-sons, Michael Bailey (Jill), of Weaverville, and Jerry Bailey (Christy), of Alexander, NC; three grandchildren, Mikayla, Amber and Autumn; five step grandchildren, Jessica, Garrett, Dakota, Jeffrey and Samiel; and five step great grandchildren. 

 

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 in the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation at www.ncfff.org.
