Tignall, Georgia formerly of Canton- James Carrol “Jim” Hall, 70, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at his home.
A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Ken and Willie Lewis Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Lee Smarr Hall, who died in 2010. Jim was a United States Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict on the USS Constellation Aircraft Carrier. He was a member of the VFW Post 5202 in Waynesville and Post 5456 in Elberton, Georgia. Jim retired from Evergreen Manufacturing with over 30 years of service. Many remember Jim as “Big Jim” whose heart was larger than himself and was always there for those who needed him. Jim loved his family, friends and VFW Posts.
He is survived by a daughter, Tammy Rollins and Robin of Brevard; one sister, Cynthia Hall of Canton; one brother, Ronnie Hall and Debbie of Cruso; best friend, Thomas Rathbone and Sheila of Hot Springs; special friend, Juanita Edwards of Waynesville; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2019 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VFW Post, 216 Miller Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
