Jerry Stamey

Canton – Jerry Ronald Stamey, 79, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022 at his residence.

Jerry was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late Ray and Vertie Sutton Stamey.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Stamey and a nephew, Adam Stamey.  Jerry was retired from Champion International “Little Champion” with 40 years of service and a member of Crestview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Bayne Stamey; two sons, Ron Stamey (Adriana) of Fairview, and Derrick Stamey (Zuri) of Mooresville; a brother, Steve Stamey of Hiawassee, Georgia; six grandchildren, Dr. Jordan Caroline Stamey, Katherine Elizabeth Stamey, Noah Stamey, Ella Stamey, Alexa Jaimez, and Adrian Jaimes; and a special cousin, Stan Reece.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2022 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dan Page officiating.  Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:45 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crestview Baptist Church, 3258 Pisgah Drive, Canton, NC  28716.

The care of Mr. Stamey has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Canton.
