Jerry Bumgarner

Jerry Lee Bumgarner, age 68, died on Sunday, September 27, 2009 , at Pisgah Manor Nursing Home. He was a native of Transylvania County, and was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Wilna Singleton Bumgarner and Vonah Bumgarner; a brother, Doyle Bumgarner, and his wife, Sue Webb Bumgarner. He was employed with Ingles for more than 20 years and was a member of Hominy Baptist Church. Jerry was a big sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Duke Blue Devils. He was an avid reader especially of mysteries and was a sweet and loving brother, uncle, and cousin. He is survived by a sister, Kay Robinson and her husband, Mike, of Candler; a niece Ronda Shook and her husband, Johnny, of Calabash, SC; and two nephews, Todd Robinson and his wife, Amy, of Charleston, SC and Wil Robinson of Boone. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Reverend Joe Yelton officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
