Jeffrey Scott Turner

September 26, 1966 — May 19, 2023

Waynesville

Waynesville, Jeffrey Scott Turner, age 56, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, at his home.

A long-time resident of Haywood County, Jeff has also resided in Franklin, NC, Virginia Beach, VA, San Antonio, TX, Point Reyes, CA, Treasure Coast, FL, and Puerto Rico.  He is the son of the late Donald Richard and Linda Sue Leigh Turner.

Jeff grew up in a Coast Guard family along with his brother and sister. Following his service in the Army as a medic, Jeff moved to Maggie Valley, NC. Jeff met Holly at Cataloochee Ski Area where they both worked. They became good friends, married and started their family. Jeff was a loving and dedicated husband and father.

After working as a skilled home-builder and carpenter for a number of years, Jeff then moved on to a career with Fedex which lasted for almost two decades. He truly cared about his co-workers and customers and made many good friends over the years. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time on the golf course with friends and hanging out with his family.

Jeff relied deeply on his faith in Christ. He credited God’s power with getting him through difficult times in his life and becoming an overcomer. Jeff also had a passion for encouraging others who were having struggles in their own lives. After he was diagnosed with cancer and throughout his illness, he continued to encourage others with his faith, even on his bad days.

Family and friends will always remember Jeff as a guy who was full of life and who loved to laugh and joke, but also had a kind and caring heart for those around him. He will be missed by many.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 27 years, Holly Turner; daughter, Lindsey Turner; and son, Nick Turner, all of Waynesville; daughter Brittany Turner of Texas; sister, Sandra Turner Bellini of Indiana and her children; and brother, Brian Turner, and his wife Angela, of Arkansas.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Antioch Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Taylor and Reverend Matt Pruett officiating.  Friends can come to visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church.  Military rites will be provided by the Army National Guard at the graveside.

The care of Mr. Turner has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
