Jeffery Alan Cochran, a beloved member of the community, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at his residence in Buncombe County, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. Born on September 9, 1981, in Haywood County to Gary Lee Cochran and Janet Bryson Layman, Jeffery's life was filled with remarkable experiences and meaningful connections.

Jeffery's educational journey began at Pisgah High School, where he graduated in the year 2000. It was during this time that his passion for learning and personal growth blossomed. Jeffery always strived for excellence and embraced every opportunity to expand his horizons.

Professionally, Jeffery’s career spanned across various fields. He dedicated his skills and expertise as an employee of the N.C. Department of Transportation, J Arthur's of Maggie Valley, and Springdale Country Club. His hard work, dedication, and commitment were greatly appreciated by his colleagues and superiors alike.

Jeffery cherished the love and support of his family and friends dearly. He was blessed with a loving Mother, Janet Bryson Layman of Little River, SC; Father Gary Cochran (Sylvia) of Marion, NC; Maternal Grandmother Mildred Bryson of Bethel; and sister Melanie Michelle Cochran of Clyde.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2023, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Brian Lamb officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.  


Jeffery will forever be remembered for his infectious smile and warm personality. He possessed an unwavering kindness that touched the hearts of those around him. His genuine compassion made him a constant source of comfort to anyone in need.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Jeffery will remember him as a dedicated friend and a loving family member. He approached life with an open heart and a contagious enthusiasm that inspired all. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.

 

To honor Jeffery's memory, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
