Waynesville, Jean Cutshaw Rose, age 79, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at her residence surrounded by family.
A native of Haywood County she was a daughter of the late Truman Newton and Mae Messer Cutshaw. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Boone Rose who died in 2018; a daughter, Brenda Houser; two grandchildren, Steven McMahan and Jason Houser; brother, Butch Cutshaw; and a half-brother, Joe Cutshaw. Jean was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, she enjoyed driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway, working crossword puzzles and sewing. She was the ultimate mother and homemaker, taking care of her daughter, Carolyn for 59 years.
Jean is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Rose, of Waynesville and Jean Ann Moody, of Clyde; son, David Rose, and his wife, Becky, of Clyde; two sisters, Sally Mintz and Hazel Surrett, both of Canton; brother, John Cutshaw, of Waynesville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the eulogy provided by Ryan Martin. The inurnment will take place following the service at Green Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Haywood Hospice and nurse Lavern Sharp for their compassion and care of Jean.
