Jean Crawford Palmer

Jean Crawford Palmer, age 85, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2023, at Haywood Lodge in Haywood County. She was born on February 21, 1938, in Haywood County to Sam and Kate Medford Crawford.

Mrs. Palmer had a fulfilling career as an Insurance Agent, working with Farm Bureau for over 15 years. She dedicated her time and skills to providing excellent service to her clients during her tenure with the organization. After her service with Farm Bureau, she continued to work privately as an Insurance Agent, further exemplifying her commitment to her profession.

Beyond her professional achievements, Jean had a zest for life and a wide range of interests. She was a talented artist who found joy and solace in expressing herself through various artistic mediums. In addition to being an artist, she also enjoyed crafting and sharing her creations with others. Jean found great delight in horseback riding, camping, and spending time tending to her garden. 

Jean's faith held a special place in her heart as she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Waynesville. Through the church community, she found solace, support, and opportunities to serve others.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Linton Palmer, in 2010 and great-granddaughter, Alex Palmer. Left to cherish Jean's memory are her daughter, Pam Noland, and husband Bill; son, Bert Palmer, DVM; sister, Pat Howell; brother, Don Crawford; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM on September 23, 2023, at Wells Funeral Homes of Waynesville. A graveside service will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Waynesville Food Bank at P.O. Box 838, Waynesville, NC 28786.  

The care of Mrs. Palmer has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
