Clyde – Jean Ingle Bryant, 89, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
Jean was a native of Buncombe County but had resided in Haywood County for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Reverend George Ingle and Alta Elizabeth Fox Ingle. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin Grooms; son, Billy Grooms; and three brothers, Charles Logan, Dale Elon, and Allison Harrison Ingle. She was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church and loved working cross word puzzles, playing the piano, and her cats, Bobby and Jamie.
She is survived by two daughters, Debra Ann Reed of Raleigh and Vicky Diane Payne (John Henry) of Waynesville; son, Michael Erwin Grooms of Canton; sister, Barbara Woody of Canton; brother Mark “Leon” Ingle of White Pine, Tennessee; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Tommy Carlisle officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A reception will immediately follow the burial at Wells Events & Reception Center in Waynesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maple Grove Baptist Church, 2501 Stamey Cove Rd, Waynesville, NC 28786.
The care of Mrs. Bryant has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Canton.
