Jay Stanford

Canton – Jay Stanford, 82, was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday, May 23, 2020.

Jay was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late Bedford and Blonnie Cloer Stanford.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister.  An avid outdoorsman, Jay loved fishing from his houseboat at Lake Fontana.  When he was not working with the DOT or Haynes Electric, Jay enjoyed wood carving and carpentry.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Elizabeth Stanford, of Clyde; his daughter, Sandra Rogers and her husband, Bill, of Bethel; three grandsons, Steven Odell Rathbone, BillyJoe Cody Rogers, and Cheyenne Rogers; and two cherished great-granddaughters, Nyah Christine and Ariana Mae.  Jay also leaves behind his beloved dog, Shadow.

A service of remembrance will be held at a later date.
