Janot Barbara Wells, 88, passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side on April 15, 2026. A native of Rye, New York, was born on May 23, 1937, to the late Otto and Jane Sellars Armbruester. After completing high school, she joined the Air Force and attained Airman 2nd Class rank. Her family remembers her love of cooking, sewing, quilting, and knitting but especially how easy-going she was and the care that she showed others. Janot had been a member of Bethel Baptist Church since the 1970’s.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandsons, Wesley and Aaron Wells.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Zene Wells; sons, Gary Dale (Debbie) Wells, David Lynn (Frieda) Wells, and Brian Carson Wells; grandchildren, Andrew (Audrey) Wells and Charles Wells, and four great grandchildren, Lucus, Bailey, Hazel, and Van.

The family wished to express their appreciation to all the staff and nurses at Silver Bluff for their care and support.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, April 19th in the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home, Canton with Reverend Mark Golden officiating. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to the service starting at 1:00pm. Burial will follow the ceremony at Bethel Community Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 5868 Pigeon Road, Canton, NC 28716.
