Janie Burnette Mathis

In loving memory of Janie Burnette Mathis:
 
Janie Burnette Mathis, born in Haywood County on November 6, 1957, passed away on March 20, 2024, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. 
 
Janie was a dedicated forklift operator for ConMet and was known for her hard work and commitment to her job. Her colleagues remember her as a reliable and valuable team member.  Outside of work, Janie had a passion for photography. She found joy in capturing the beauty of the world through her lens, creating lasting memories through her photos.  Those who knew Janie remember her as a truly special individual - always giving, thoughtful, and with a contagious laughter that could light up any room. Her warm personality left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
 
Janie is preceded in death by her parents, Chester Atlas and Carrie Cathey Burnette and her sister, Sue Hill. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Stamey of Waynesville; two brothers, Billy Burnette (Dana) of Clyde and Danny Burnette (Robyn) of Canton; nieces: Renee McMahan (Jimmy), Brandy Underwood, and Haley Fields (Josh); nephews: Robie Rhodes (Kim) and Tony Francis (Vesna); several beloved great nieces and nephews; best friend, Beth Whitley along with many more wonderful friends.   
 
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2024 in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Canton with Reverend Josh Fields officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Crawford-Ray Memorial Gardens.  The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  
 
In our hearts forever, Janie will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for the kindness she shared and the love she brought into our lives. May she rest in peace.
